Tony Treadway is a New Harmony, Indiana based potter/ceramic artist. Tony has a Bachelors of Fine Arts (Ceramics, 1986) from University of Evansville and a Masters of Arts (Ceramics, 1989) from Eastern Illinois University (Charleston, Illinois). He was originally from Robinson, Illinois.
Tony finds his inspiration in nature, history, archaeology, and the Wabash River. With a love of historic forms (both Native American and classical forms) and the archaeological sites of the lower Wabash River region (from Terre Haute, Indiana to the Ohio River), he creates forms that reflect these interests. The textures, designs, and forms of the Allison, Lamotte, Crab Orchard, Mississippian, and Hopewell cultures have become his main inspiration. He says, “New Harmony is the perfect balance of historic, artistic, and spiritual culture to inspire an artist and it is the home I was always searching for."
